"Earnest, personal, not pretentious, and honest. Joey shows tremendous growth as a writer. He's being pretty fearless here. I love this batch of songs." - Nick Bertling
Liner Notes: Brooklyn born singer-songwriter handles all vocals and instruments for this self-produced release that showcases his heart in hand style of songwriting. It's a throwback to the classic pop genre but, in indie fashion, with hints of retro-rock and Americana.
"Here are my new songs along with what I call "family classics"... recorded late 2018 into early 2019 at home. If you're looking for what pop music sounds like most places today, this might not be the album for you. There's no use of auto-tune, and all these performances were captured rather quickly with minimalistic arrangements. That said, I'm also not reinventing the genre. My influences are obvious... The Beatles, Springsteen, Tom Petty, Bowie, Classic Top 40 Pop, Neil Diamond (Hey, I'm from Brooklyn!), folk, country, and early rock and roll... just to name a few. If you're looking for something offbeat (sometimes, literally) but, from the heart, this might be a refreshing change. Regardless, I hope you find something on this album to connect with. That's why I write songs. Sorry... there isn't any cowbell on this album." - Joey
