about

This song was a result of social media and a conversation I had with my wife.

A young artist (Dazmin D'Leon) reached out via twitter to collaborate with me. I agreed to listen to any ideas she had mind. A few weeks later, Dazmin sent me a piano based progression with a drum track and samples. While I've never worked like this before, I took it as a challenge, and felt a good vibe from this new artist.

I decided to build upon her idea by adding bass, guitars, and various parts. I mixed down the track and went for a drive. I came up with the lyrics and melody... while taking my son to an after-school lesson. A certain topic was weighing heavy on me.

My wife and I were recently discussing our feelings about the immigration issue involving our borders and the children of Mexico. I had no idea that Dazmin's track and my way better half's thoughts on this topic would somehow bring a politically based lyric out of me but, it did.

We've included a free video for the project... for those of you who've download this Deluxe Single. Also, an Instagram story-video to help us get the word out on social media. Thank you for your support!

"Mexico"
See the children in a cage.
Drains my heart and fills my soul with rage.
Whatever happened to the land that stood for freedom. Oh no.
Separating families. Building walls of exclusivity.
Call to action: it’s time to light the beacon of hope.
You want to shut them out
Don’t want to let them in
You’d rather lock em up
than stop their suffering
While your family goes vacationing down in Mexico.
Don’t pretend that they don’t work.
See their hands buried in your dirt.
You don’t seem to mind
when you need someone to clean up your shit.
You want to shut them out
Don’t want to let them in
You’d rather lock em up
than see their suffering
While your family goes vacationing down in Mexico.
You want to shut them out
Don’t want to let them in
You’d rather lock em up
than stop their suffering
While your family goes vacationing down in Mexico.
